Inclusion: Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (I:DEA)

Commitment to Inclusion: Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA)

Our outdoor art park near Lisbon is committed to fostering an environment where diversity, equity, and accessibility are fundamental principles. As part of this dedication, we are developing a comprehensive IDEA plan to guide our operations, governance, and programming. This plan will be continuously reviewed and adapted to reflect emerging priorities and ensure its relevance.

We recognize that embracing IDEA requires sustained effort, openness to innovation, and transparency. Our commitment to these principles will strengthen our institution and enhance the experience for all visitors, collaborators, and stakeholders.

Our IDEA Principles

  • Respect and Reciprocity: Our work is brought to life through meaningful interactions with artists, visitors, colleagues, and local communities. We value reciprocal relationships and the vitality they bring to our landscape and organization.

  • Diverse Perspectives: By actively listening and engaging in open dialogue, we foster an environment that values diverse perspectives. Collaboration and mutual appreciation are central to our mission.

  • Equity Beyond Equality: Recognizing that equitable access means addressing varied needs, we aim to create authentic opportunities for all, rooted in respect and understanding.

  • Ongoing Evolution: IDEA is a continuous, collaborative process that evolves over time with the support of our team and stakeholders.

Our IDEA Goals

  1. Organizational Culture

    • Embed IDEA principles into our policies, practices, and decision-making to cultivate an inclusive and dynamic organizational culture.

  2. Recruitment and Retention

    • Expand the diversity of our team by broadening recruitment efforts and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

  3. Access and Accessibility

    • Enhance access and inclusivity across all aspects of the park, ensuring that people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds can fully engage with our offerings.

  4. Collections, Exhibitions, and Programs

    • Actively seek and promote diverse voices in our artistic acquisitions, exhibitions, and public programs, highlighting a broad spectrum of perspectives and experiences.

By grounding our work in these principles and goals, we aspire to create a park that reflects the rich diversity of our community and serves as a model for inclusivity and accessibility.
